Hi! I’m Sarah Wheeler, the creator and founder of Lesson Leap. After teaching dance for 10 years, I created this platform in 2023 to address the lack of resources available to dance teachers. I find that a lot of skilled dancers are thrown into teaching positions without being given the proper tools to be successful. I was once in that position and had to create my curriculum from the ground-up, so my goal is to share my knowledge and help inspire other teachers! Whether you are a new teacher and need help establishing curriculum, or have several years of experience and want fresh ideas, I am hopeful that Lesson Leap will be a valuable resource for you!
Every single post, lesson plan, material, is 100% written by me, and tested over several years of teaching (absolutely no AI is used on any content posted). I danced competitively for over 15 years, training heavily in jazz, contemporary, acro, ballet (Vaganova and Cecchetti), and hip hop. I minored in Dance at Purdue University, where I also danced and choreographed for their Contemporary Dance Company. Currently, I teach ballet, jazz, and contemporary at a studio in Houston, TX.
Right now, Lesson Leap is mainly geared towards recreational and younger dancers. My plan is to add more advanced content, and tap resources!
